赤嵌樓（Chihkan Tower）

赤嵌樓原為 1653 年荷蘭人建造的普羅民遮城（Fort Provintia），是台灣最具歷史意義的古蹟之一。鄭成功 1661 年驅逐荷蘭人後，將此地改為承天府。歷經荷蘭、明鄭、清朝、日治等時期的改建，現存建築以清代閣樓為主體。

園區內有海神廟、文昌閣等建築，以及九座御碑（清乾隆年間立，記載林爽文事件）。赤嵌樓是台南的地標，也是國定古蹟。

English Introduction

Chihkan Tower was originally Fort Provintia, built by the Dutch in 1653 during their colonization of Taiwan. After Koxinga (Zheng Chenggong) expelled the Dutch in 1661, it became the administrative center of the Kingdom of Tungning. The current structures are mainly from the Qing Dynasty.

The complex includes the Haishen Temple, Wenchang Pavilion, and nine imperial stele tablets from the Qianlong era. As a National Historic Monument, it’s the most iconic landmark of Tainan — the former capital of Taiwan.
