神農街(Shennong Street)
English Introduction
Shennong Street is Tainan’s most artistic old street, stretching about 200 meters. Originally a bustling commercial hub during the Qing Dynasty’s Five Ports era, it has been revitalized with galleries, cafes, and craft shops occupying renovated historic buildings — making it Tainan’s most Instagrammable spot.
The street preserves its Qing-era layout with narrow alleys, wooden doors, and stone-paved paths creating a nostalgic atmosphere. It’s photogenic by day and magical when lanterns light up at night. The Yaowang Temple (Medicine King Temple) dedicated to Shennong at the street’s end gives the street its name.
